V Architecture proudly commemorates its 44th anniversary, marking decades of visionary design and unparalleled dedication to architectural innovation. Founded as Jiménez + Rodríguez Barceló on March 15, 1980 by pioneering partners Ricardo Jiménez and José A. Rodríguez Barceló, the firm has since evolved into the blueprint of architectural brilliance transitioning to V Architecture in 2003 to accommodate a new team of architects now under the leadership of President and Principal Architect Ilia Ríos.
From its inception, J+RB/V Architecture has been at the forefront of groundbreaking projects, leaving an indelible mark on the architectural landscape of Puerto Rico. The firm has played instrumental roles in landmark ventures, including prestigious hospitality establishments, commercial developments, and the iconic Puerto Rico Convention Center. Today it continues to uphold its legacy while embracing a fresh perspective, epitomizing the seamless blend of experience and innovation.
“Over the past decade, the firm has witnessed the emergence of a new generation, characterized by its commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering cutting-edge design,” adds Senior Principal and Co-Founder José A. Rodríguez-Barceló. By spearheading projects like the vibrant Distrito T-Mobile entertainment hub and the award-winning Sabanera Health Center, the firm has solidified its reputation as a trailblazer in architectural excellence.
The past year has been incredibly exciting for V Architecture, marked by significant milestones and achievements. One of these achievements includes the start of construction on our much-anticipated Popular Campus project in central Hato Rey Golden Mile district. Additionally, our Sabanera Health Center received several international recognitions, including winning the prestigious 14th Annual International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Award for Global Excellence in Design in the healthcare category.
Beyond its architectural endeavors, V Architecture has cultivated a culture of community engagement with a deep-rooted commitment to mentorship and internship programs that nurture the next generation of design professionals. “This tireless dedication to giving back to our community is ingrained in the firm’s DNA, driving its mission to leave a lasting impact on the built environment and the individuals it serves,” added President and Managing Partner Ilia M.
