Celebrating the Art of Play as V Architecture Visits Rafi Lugo’s Exhibition

On Saturday, August 2, members of the V Architecture team visited the exhibition Los Juegos de Mi Infancia to show our support for our beloved colleague and designer, Rafael “Rafi” Lugo Vicente.

The exhibition, held at Plaza del Caribe in Ponce, showcases 22 works of art that capture, with extraordinary detail and nostalgia, the traditional games of past generations. Among the featured pieces are depictions of the trompo, gallitos, marbles, kites, tricycles, jacks, yoyos, and the classic green toy soldiers.

In addition to the paintings, the exhibition includes hand-painted accessories by Rafi—shirts, ties, handbags, and other everyday items—each decorated with motifs inspired by these beloved childhood toys. Visitors can also enjoy a documentary exploring the history and cultural significance of these games in Puerto Rico, along with supporting materials such as texts, books, and images created by the artist. The experience is enriched by a literary section written by Rafi’s brother, Humberto L. Lugo Vicente, whose narrative and poetic reflections complement the theme of childhood and play.

Our visit was a heartfelt opportunity to celebrate Rafi’s artistic talent, creative vision, and dedication to preserving Puerto Rican traditions through art. Rafi, we are so proud of you—not only for your extraordinary talent, but for the way your work captures the heart and soul of our culture. Your creativity inspires us every day, and it was an honor to stand by you in celebrating this milestone. V Architecture is proud to support the endeavors of our team members, both within the world of architecture and beyond, and we encourage everyone to experience this vibrant and nostalgic exhibition.
