Celebrating the Close of V Juniors Summer 2025

This summer, V Architecture proudly welcomed a new class of V Juniors—Keisha Martínez, Maireliz Luciano, Paolina Negrón, Ana Grecia Gándara, and Paulina Ferraiuoli—into our Santurce studio, opening the doors of our 100-year-old casa to the next generation of design professionals. Over the course of several weeks, they immersed themselves in meaningful projects, gained real-world experience, and built relationships that will help shape their future in architecture and the built environment.

The program began with Interview Day, where each intern shared their inspirations, favorite architects, and dream home concepts. Through lighthearted video features like This or That and Intern Confessions, they revealed their design preferences, creative processes, and the unexpected places where they find inspiration. These conversations not only showcased their personalities but also the diversity of thought they brought into the studio. Soon after, Keisha, Maireliz, and Paolina joined our Architecture Studio, Ana Grecia integrated into the Interior Design Studio, and Paulina explored the Business Development Department. Working side by side with our architects, designers, and professionals, they quickly discovered the dynamic rhythm of studio life.

Beyond their daily work, the summer offered many opportunities to learn and connect outside the desk. Early on, the Project Management team hosted them for a lively lunch at Distrito T-Mobile, creating space to share stories and advice in a relaxed setting. They also became part of our monthly V Breakfast & Coffee Talk tradition, where every team member contributes a dish, and conversations over coffee turn into moments of fellowship, collaboration, and laughter.

Mentorship was at the heart of the experience. A session with representatives from CAAPPR and AIA Puerto Rico gave the interns valuable insights into the professional path ahead—covering licensure, memberships, and the benefits of joining organizations that support architects throughout their careers. Later, one of the most rewarding challenges came through a residential design charette. Tasked with creating the interiors of a master bathroom for a high-end residence, the interns immersed themselves in the full process: listening to client needs, developing conceptual designs, selecting finishes, producing schematic drawings and renderings, and presenting their ideas to the Senior Project Management team as well as to an Owner’s Representative.

The summer also brought unique opportunities beyond the studio walls. On August 7, the interns visited the Popular Center District project. The site visit highlighted not only the architectural significance of the project but also the leadership of women driving its vision. As they toured the site, the interns observed how sustainable strategies are reshaping the district into a dynamic, people-centered environment that balances modern functionality with long-term responsibility to the community and the environment.

For many, it was the first time witnessing a large-scale project in this stage of development, and the experience allowed them to connect classroom learning with the realities of construction, sustainability, and project management. Listening to the women leading the transformation of such an iconic urban landmark inspired them to imagine their own roles in the profession, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation in shaping Puerto Rico’s architectural future.

As the weeks went on, each intern left their mark on the projects and the people around them. Keisha, Paolina, and Ana Grecia contributed their creativity and dedication in design, documentation, presentations, and interior design, while Paulina enriched the Marketing team with her unique perspective, even collaborating on a special commission as Owner Representative. Together, they not only advanced their own learning but also added meaningful value to the firm.

The program concluded with a joyful celebration on our outdoor roof terrace, where we gathered to reflect on the lessons learned, the friendships formed, and the work accomplished. With heartfelt gratitude, we recognize our Summer 2025 V Juniors for their creativity, energy, and contributions that made a real impact on our projects and culture. As we bid them farewell and wish them continued success in their academic and professional paths, we look forward with excitement to the bright future of this program.

“Wrapping up the summer with gratitude for our interns who brought creativity, energy, and dedication to V Architecture. Your contributions made a real impact on our projects and culture.”
