V Architecture’s New Ferry Terminal at Roosevelt Roads

V Architecture is thrilled to unveil our latest endeavor, the New Ferry Terminal at Roosevelt Roads in Ceiba. Serving as a vital transportation hub between the sister islands of Vieques and Culebra and welcoming tourists year-round, this project promises to enhance the overall experience for travelers.

The terminal will feature an open design, with distinct zones for waiting and ticketing on the first floor, administrative offices on the second, and a rooftop terrace boasting a bar and café on the third. Spanning 28,000 square feet, the building will be strategically elevated four feet to mitigate potential flooding. At the same time, taxiways and outdoor parking areas will utilize permeable concrete for eco-friendly drainage and heat reduction.

In addition, a multi-story parking facility will offer 345 spaces for short and long-term stays, with plans to add an additional 165 spaces in a nearby land lot. This expansion boosts passenger capacity and ensures a safer, more spacious, and resilient environment for island-bound travelers. Scheduled for completion by the end of next year and operational by 2025, the project will be built by Bird Group LLC.

Recently, V Architecture proudly attended the groundbreaking ceremony and press conference on February 5th in Ceiba, with the presence of Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi. Governor Pierluisi shared his insights on the project’s significance for the local community, joined by esteemed officials from the Department of Transportation and Maritime Authority, among other key figures.

These initiatives underscore our firm’s continuous commitment to innovative design solutions that captivate aesthetically and serve our communities’ functional needs. V Architecture remains dedicated to shaping a brighter, more accessible future for Puerto Rico and beyond. Read more about this event here.
