V Architecture Joins the Blessing of El Mesón’s Newest Mayagüez Location

Last Thursday, V Architecture was proud to take part in the blessing and opening ceremonies of El Mesón Sandwiches’ newest location in Mayagüez, the chain’s 44th restaurant on the island and fourth in the city. Located along PR-2 in the Barrio Sábalos, this new 3,300-square-foot restaurant features seating for 78 guests, 27 parking spaces, and a dual drive-thru—one of the most efficient in the El Mesón network.

Managing Principal Ilia Ríos and Senior Project Manager Marialy Pérez represented V Architecture at the event, which began with the traditional blessing before the symbolic “Mesotron” sandwich was cut to officially welcome the restaurant into the community. In a thoughtful gesture, the V Architecture team also received a commemorative artwork marking the inauguration.

With an investment of over $2.8 million, the store’s design reflects a modern architectural style and incorporates multiple innovations in convenience, efficiency, and sustainability, including:

  • Rainwater harvesting system with 600-gallon capacity for irrigation, cleaning, and bathrooms

  • Solar panels and solar water heater

  • 2,500-gallon cistern

  • Reinforced grease and oil control system

  • Intelligent lighting panels to maximize daylight

  • Optimized kitchen layout for improved operations

  • Four interactive ordering kiosks

This location generates 60 direct jobs and began operations in mid-June with a highly successful soft opening.

For V Architecture, the Mayagüez store represents the latest milestone in a long-standing relationship with El Mesón Sandwiches—one that spans multiple locations and special occasions, from celebrating the chain’s 50th anniversary to the opening of its 43rd store. Each project reflects our shared commitment to thoughtful design, operational efficiency, and delivering welcoming spaces for communities across Puerto Rico.

We congratulate El Mesón on this newest achievement and look forward to continuing our collaboration in shaping the next chapter of their legacy.
