Caribe Hilton Rehabilitation

At V Architecture (and our predecessor firm Jiménez + Rodríguez Barceló) we have enjoyed a long and fruitful history of serving the Caribe Hilton Hotel, a local icon in the field of hospitality. Through our master planning skills and tasteful design capabilities, we have helped shape the physical presence of this wonderful brand.

After the devastating effects of hurricanes Irma and María in 2017, V Architecture was once again called in to work on the rehabilitation of the hotel, which suffered substantial damages. Working alongside the disaster recovery team, the project management team and the hotel’s interior designers, V Architecture led the architectural rehabilitation of all of the hotel’s 625 guest rooms, most of the hotel’s emblematic public spaces, ballrooms, the restaurant, and spa and fitness center facilities.

This rehabilitation project was particularly significant in the recovery efforts, as it served as a temporary housing solution for first responders and disaster recovery personnel after the storm. The property eventually closed completely for the rehabilitation projects, making way for more than a year of hard work on the site. The hotel reopened on June 2019 in a much anticipated event signaling that Puerto Rico and the Caribe Hilton were open for business and stronger than ever.
