Hotel Luquillo sits on a privileged, 10-acre property across from the world famous Luquillo beach, locally known as Balneario de La Monserrate, name of the old coconut plantation that existed in the area. The soon-to-be-build hotel is a 120-guestroom, 114,000-square-foot facility with various amenities. The development also includes a casino, a parking garage and a third-party restaurant. The lush vegetation at the site offers an opportunity to create a secluded atmosphere where the guest can relax and enjoy nature with interpretive trails surrounding a natural water feature. The site is close by El Yunque National Forest, the only rain forest managed under the US National Parks System, and the marina town of Fajardo, with access to off-shore islets, nearby islands, and all sorts of water sports venues. The hotel is the first of its kind in the immediate vicinity and as such will help in the diversification of the tourism offer.
